Bulk edit compare-at prices on Shopify

The compare-at price is what Shopify themes show crossed out next to a sale price. Sale Scheduler sets it in bulk with 8 actions, and holds back any row where the compare-at wouldn't be higher than the new price, because Shopify wouldn't show it as a sale.

Why are some rows marked Warning?

A crossed-out price only makes sense when it's higher than the price. If the compare-at you set would be equal to or lower than the new price, the review marks the row Warning and the app doesn't apply it, so you never publish a "sale" that shows no saving. Fix the rule or exclude those variants, then review again.

What gets skipped?

  • Increase and decrease skip variants that have no compare-at price to start from.
  • A new compare-at must be greater than 0, and a percentage decrease can't exceed 100%.
  • Skipped rows show their reason in the review and never count toward usage.

Is the compare-at price restored after a sale?

Yes. Before the sale, the app saves each variant's previous price and compare-at price, and a restore puts both back. Read the compare-at price guide for how themes display it and how to use it honestly.

Use a compare-at that reflects a genuine previous price. Rules on reference prices differ by country, so check what applies where you sell.

Frequently asked questions

What is the compare-at price on Shopify?

It's a separate variant field for a higher reference price. When it's higher than the price, most themes show it crossed out to indicate a sale.

Why isn't my compare-at price showing?

Usually because it's empty or not higher than the price, or because the theme hides it. See compare-at price not showing.

Can I put a whole collection on sale with a crossed-out price?

Yes. Decrease the price, choose "Set compare-at to original price", target the collection and review. Every Ready row shows the old price crossed out after the start.

Can I remove compare-at prices in bulk?

Yes. Use "Remove compare-at price" with "Don't change price" to clean up old sale markings without touching prices.
